The purpose of the Archelaus Smith Historical Society is to preserve the history and culture of Cape Sable Island by:

Collecting and caring for artifacts connected with the Island

Gathering and recording information concerning the Island's history

Compiling Genealogies of Island families

Operating the Archelaus Smith Museum where the public may view collected artifacts and have access to genealogical and historical information

Making information about the Island available to the public through the publication and sale of Books

Providing an outreach program to schools when requested
